Sloss Furnace, A Hobo Paradise

Down in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama, you’ll find the Sloss Furnaces nestled between Interstates a run-down and rusty little monument dedicated to the iron making that once fueled the town.
It was operated as a pig iron-producing blast furnace from 1882 to 1971. After closing it became one of the first industrial sites (and the only blast furnace) in the U.S. to be preserved for public use.
They hold concerts and events there now but it’s the Halloween party that I’m interested in. The place is creepy and dangerous enough in the day so it would be a real trip to throw in the Halloween element.
